Many patients with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) do not have a proper understanding of the therapy they are undergoing. Non-adherence to treatment and a decline in patients' quality of life during DM therapy are among the major causes of treatment failure and may increase the risk of developing complications such as cardiovascular disease and kidney failure. Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is one of the approaches used to improve medication adherence and quality of life among patients with DM. This study aims to provide a reference for determining effective MTM interventions that can generate positive outcomes from pharmacists' interventions in the management of DM. This narrative review includes qualitative studies retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. The findings of this narrative review, based on several research articles conducted in different countries, indicate that MTM service programs, when properly implemented by pharmacists in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, can improve patients' adherence to treatment, enhance their quality of life, and reduce hospital admissions among patients with DM. In conclusion, pharmacist-led pharmaceutical care interventions based on MTM for patients with DM may be considered an effective strategy for improving medication adherence and quality of life in individuals with Diabetes Mellitus.
