Hubungan Pengetahuan dengan Pola Makan pada Penderita Hipertensi di Rumah Sakit Umum Wisata Universitas Indonesia Timur Makassar

Hypertension is a major global health problem closely associated with unhealthy dietary patterns and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. Knowledge regarding hypertension and dietary management plays an important role in shaping patients’ eating behaviors. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge and dietary patterns among hypertensive patients at RSU Wisata, Universitas Indonesia Timur, Makassar. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 40 hypertensive patients were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires measuring respondents’ knowledge and dietary patterns. Knowledge was categorized as good or poor, while dietary patterns were classified as healthy or unhealthy. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that most respondents had good knowledge; however, the majority still exhibited unhealthy dietary patterns. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between knowledge and dietary patterns (p = 0.031; p < 0.05). In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between knowledge and dietary patterns among hypertensive patients. However, good knowledge does not necessarily translate into healthy dietary behavior, indicating the need for continuous health education to improve dietary adherence among patients with hypertension.
