Abstract

Gaining weight is sometimes associated with hormonal contraception, particularly the 3-month injectable form (Depo Medroxyprogesterone Acetate/DMPA), because to changes in hormone levels and metabolic irregularities. Since this condition may increase the risk of non-communicable disorders, safe and effective non-pharmacological therapy are required. One potential tactic is yoga, which combines physical activity with breathing techniques and relaxation. Finding out if yoga aided weight loss for people in Tondomulyo Village, Jakenan District, Pati Regency who had used injectable contraceptives for three months was the goal of this study. In this study, which used a pre- and post-test approach, there was no control group. Thirty individuals were selected using purposive selection and fulfilled the inclusion criteria, which included taking injectable contraception for a minimum of six months and having gained weight. Yoga classes were part of the intervention for eight weeks; they met three times a week for thirty minutes each session. Before and after the intervention, the individuals' weights were recorded. For this research, we utilized a paired t-test and set the significance threshold at 0.05. The results showed that the average body weight decreased by 2.4 kg, from 66.2 kg to 63.8 kg. A statistical research with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) shown that yoga significantly aids in weight reduction. People who are willing to use injectable contraceptives have found that yoga, an activity that does not involve pharmaceuticals, helps them lose weight.
