Profil Kadar Serum Vitamin D (25(Oh)D) pada Pasien Rinosinusitis Kronis

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa that may reduce patients’ quality of life. Vitamin D plays a role as an immunomodulator, and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D or 25(OH)D levels can be used as an indicator of vitamin D status in the body. This study aimed to describe the profile of serum vitamin D (25(OH)D) levels in patients with CRS. This study used a descriptive approach with a cross-sectional design involving CRS patients aged 18–65 years who visited the otorhinolaryngology outpatient clinic. Patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected as study samples. This study included 30 patients with CRS. The majority of subjects were female, consisting of 23 patients (76.7%), with a mean age of 34.47 ± 14.76 years. The mean serum vitamin D level was 19.01 ± 4.29 ng/mL, with a median of 19.4 ng/mL and a range of 8.7–29.2 ng/mL. Vitamin D deficiency was observed in 21 patients (70%), while vitamin D insufficiency was observed in 9 patients (30%). In conclusion, most CRS patients in this study had low serum vitamin D levels, with all subjects categorized as either deficient or insufficient. Therefore, hypovitaminosis D was a predominant finding in this population of CRS patients.
