Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a chronic kidney failure condition managed with routine hemodialysis. This case study aimed to analyze the application of Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) therapy to reduce anxiety in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis. Data were collected through assessment, observation, and medical record review on one CKD patient with anxiety. The intervention was conducted in three sessions according to the hemodialysis schedule. The results showed a decrease in anxiety on the second day and the patient reported no anxiety on the third day. SEFT therapy can be used as a complementary nursing intervention to reduce anxiety. Nevertheless, the results of this study need to be interpreted with caution, as it involved only one patient and did not use a comparison group. Research involving larger sample sizes and standardized anxiety measurement instruments is needed to strengthen the evidence regarding the effectiveness of SEFT among hemodialysis patients across various renal care settings.
