Abstract

Social isolation is a mental health issue where a person often pulls away and spends a lot of time by themselves. They may feel shy or uneasy when trying to talk to others because they think people are unkind or the environment is scary. People who feel lonely often stay away from others and like to be by themselves. This study aims to find out how social skills training therapy helps people who feel lonely improve their ability to interact with others. This study is experimental, and it's a type of pre-experimental study. It uses a single group and includes tests before and after the intervention. The pre-test results showed that every person who took it (100%) had interaction skills that were rated as poor. After the intervention, the results from the post-test showed that there was an improvement. Out of the 15 people who responded, 6 (which is 40%) were in the good category for interaction skills, and 9 (which is 60%) were in the poor category. The study shows that social skills training helps improve the social interaction abilities of patients who are socially isolated, but in terms of clinical outcomes, most participants still have poor levels of social skills. So, in taking care of people who are socially isolated, besides giving them medicine, it's also important to help them learn better social skills through training. This can make it easier for them to interaction.
