Abstract

The urgency of this research lies in the high risk of childbirth complications due to infectious diseases, which remain a major contributor to maternal and infant mortality in Indonesia. The primary objective of this study is to develop a model for integrating diagnostic technology into holistic maternal and neonatal nursing services. This research also aims to improve the capacity of nursing staff in early detection and rapid response to infections during pregnancy and childbirth. The method employed is a qualitative approach, utilizing case studies through in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. This study employed qualitative methods, including literature and documentation studies, which were analyzed using thematic analysis with the aid of NVivo and validated through source triangulation. The findings of this study indicate that the risk of birth complications due to infection in pregnant women is influenced by physiological, environmental, socioeconomic factors, limited health services, and the capacity of medical personnel, which impacts anemia, sepsis, premature birth, congenital abnormalities, and neonatal death. The use of diagnostic technologies, such as point-of-care testing (POCT), and the integration of health information systems are considered to accelerate early detection, improve diagnostic Accruracy, strengthen referral systems, and support the capacity of nursing staff. Therefore, a holistic approach through improving access to services, strengthening health workers, and integrating diagnostic technologies is key to reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality due to infectious diseases
