Profil Pasien yang Menjalani Tindakan Transurethral Resection of The Prostate (TURP) di RS Siloam Ambon pada Tahun 2022

Prostate enlargement is a global problem in elderly men. Most prostate enlargement is caused by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and others are prostate cancer. Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP) is the gold standard for surgery in patients with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (LUTS) due to BPH. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of patients undergoing Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP) at Siloam Hospital Ambon in 2022. This research is a descriptive type of research and uses a cross-sectional design in patients diagnosed with enlarged prostate/urinary retention and have performed TURP. by using total sampling. The results of this study indicate that the number of patients undergoing Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP) procedures at Siloam Ambon Hospital in 2022 is 111 patients. The largest age group is the elderly 60-69 years (40.6%). Obstructive symptoms were the most frequently complained symptoms (98.2%). Most of the patient's prostate volume is >50 cc (54%). BPH is the most common histopathological diagnosis (64.9%). Acute urinary retention was the most frequent indication of surgery (75.7%).
