Elevated uric acid levels are a common health problem among older adults and may lead to hyperuricemia, which can cause joint pain, stiffness, reduced physical mobility, and limitations in performing activities of daily living. These conditions may adversely affect the quality of life of older adults by influencing their physical, psychological, social, and environmental well-being. This study aimed to examine the relationship between uric acid levels and quality of life as well as physical mobility among older adults in Sanik Hamlet, Malimbong Balepe' District, Tana Toraja Regency. A quantitative study with a descriptive-analytic correlational design and a cross-sectional approach was conducted. The study involved 45 older adults, all of whom were recruited using a total sampling technique. Uric acid level was the independent variable, while quality of life and physical mobility were the dependent variables. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square test to determine the association between variables. The findings showed a statistically significant relationship between uric acid levels and quality of life (p = 0.003) as well as physical mobility (p = 0.001), indicating that elevated uric acid levels were associated with poorer quality of life and decreased physical mobility among older adults. In conclusion, uric acid levels are significantly associated with both quality of life and physical mobility. Regular screening, early detection, and appropriate management of hyperuricemia are recommended to improve functional independence and overall well-being among older adults.
