The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant psychological pressure on healthcare workers as the frontline of healthcare services. This study aims to explore the role of social support in the psychological well-being of healthcare workers during times of crisis. The study employed a qualitative approach with an exploratory design. Participants consisted of six healthcare workers (two doctors, two nurses, and two midwives) who were selected purposively based on the results of a preliminary study involving 100 healthcare workers using the Subjective Well-Being Scale. Data were collected through in-depth online interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that social support plays an important role in the psychological well-being of healthcare workers as a strengthening relational experience, an emotional regulation mechanism, a prevention of isolation, and a source of professional meaning formation. Social support that is positively perceived enhances adaptive capacity and reduces psychological distress, whereas limited social support is associated with increased isolation and decreased psychological well-being. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening social support from family, coworkers, and institutions in maintaining the psychological well-being of healthcare workers during crisis situations.
